You Don’t Need a Job – You Need Guts, Ash Ambirge

Truth:

Most people will walk this earth for decades, feeling guilty for not pursuing the great adventures inside of them, but will never do anything about it.

Truth:

Most people are overwhelmed by fear, and will make some of the worst choices of their lives because of it.  Greatness evolves from trust–in yourself, in your ideas, and in your ability to know, deep down, what’s best for YOU.  We must not betray that trust, because the moment we do, we betray our own potential.

Truth:

Most people will do exactly as they are told to do, won’t ever question the rules, and will believe that by doing so, they’ll get farther in life.  While this may have once been the case, in a time when assembly lines were hip, the exact opposite is true now. In the age of technology, success awaits only those who are willing to break the rules, stand out from the crowd, and be daringly, unflinchingly, unapologetically DIFFERENT.

Truth:

Most people believe that there is more safety & security in a 9-5 than there is in being an entrepreneur.  Though, more and more it becomes glaringly obvious that relying on only one sole source of income is a big (and irrational) risk. Furthermore, by building your work around yourself & creating new business opportunities, rather than building yourself around your work & having to adapt to already available business opportunities, your measures of success go far beyond money. And this is always, always, ALWAYS a good thing.

Truth:

Most people leave the quality of their lives up to luck & happenstance, and believe, somewhere deep down, that eventually they’ll be rescued by someone or something.  As much as I love a pristine white horse as much as the next guy, it’s crucial to remember that you’ve got to be the hero in your own story.  The damsel-in-distress role is the coward’s way of living life.

Truth:

Most people want more from life–more fulfilment, more excitement, more pleasure, more peace, more self-assurance, more satisfaction, more happiness, and way more juicy stories to tell–but they’ll never get it because they let the lack of immediate know-how become an (unnecessary) obstacle.

Truth:

Most people will never actually live–they’ll just think they did.

Want more? Go to The Middle Finger Project. Be Warned, if you are offended by swearing DO NOT click! But I urge you to check this site out…it’s ****** brilliant!

Take a ****** risk

“Go out and take a fucking risk. If you play it safe you will miss out on A LOT of shit. Out of all the people I have talked to, no one said they wish they spent more time at work or doing stuff they hate.”

I would love to claim wrote that but I didn’t. I read it on the second best website in the world. The middle finger project. Of course number one is DP Web Development. You should check that one out if you haven’t already. You could check it out again to see if still as awesome as you remember it. (Is that too American sounding?)

Back to the quote. Too fucking true. It is exactly why I am now working for myself.  It is a fucking risk. But I wouldn’t change it for the world. It meant I was there for my son’s first steps. I was there when the Olympic flame came to town and everyone had a party. I was there when my wife stood in front of 100 people to make a speech. I wasn’t at a desk miles away doing shit I didn’t want to do.

Doesn’t mean I wasn’t working the same hours (far from it) But I chose my own hours and I was doing what I wanted so it is much easier to do those hours. Time flies!

I’ve met a truck load of people in my life and not one remembers that great day they commuted miles to the office worked the same day and commuted back. It wasn’t a great day. Yay I finished my report…Great day… oh got another one to write tomorrow.

So.  I say. Take a fucking risk. IT IS NEVER TOO LATE. Honestly. Will YOU Look back on your life and say, “I did that”, “that was me”, “I took the risk. I dared to believe. I stood up to be counted”.  Will you succeed? You have a hell of lot more chance by going for it than if you didn’t.

And I GUARANTEE you will learn a lot. About business. About your passion. About yourself and what truly matters to you. And what truly matters?  Is it really getting to the office by 9? Is it really writing that report that is read once and then never again? It could be, I suppose.

For me it’s not. I enjoy creating bespoke websites for small or medium sized companies that truly make a difference to them. By enhancing their digital profile and bringing a whole new customer base to their virtual door step. That’s what I enjoy and that’s what I do.

Many clients become my friends. We meet over a coffee or a beer often. I love to hear stories about how their new website transformed their business. It makes me smile and I have killer smile!

But what do YOU want to do? Truly, honestly?  Got it? Ok. Make a plan. Execute it. Go for it. Take a fucking risk.

THE CHOICE IS YOURS! Go for it. Tell me what you did. There is no limit to what you can do and what you can achieve.

You can do absolutely anything you want to…as long as YOU believe that to be true.

And I leave you with this. What is you greatest unfulfilled dream? Don’t dream it. Make it happen.

Or go back to writing that report.
